The New DUN building will be the future venue for Sarawak’s State Legislative Assembly sittings. With its distinctive “payung” roof, the new DUN complex is set to become an icon for the State.

The architecture of the complex combines unique elements of Sarawak’s heritage with state-of-the-art intelligent building automation systems, multimedia communication facilities, and environmentally friendly features. The complex is part of an overall masterplan covering a 172-acre development at Pangkalan Sapi on the banks of the Sarawak river.

Waterfront extension to Brooke Dockyards

Work on the esplanade extension at the Kuching waterfront west of Pangkalan Sapi is imminent and will be completed in about two years' time. This scenic walk will eventually be extended to link up to the Satok Commercial Area through the scenic and quaint Kampung Masjid.

A comprehensive public transportation study is being conducted. The proposal is to integrate the various bus companies & modernize the bus fleet. The routes & schedules would also be rationalized into an efficient and comprehensive transport network with interchanges for ‘in city’ and ‘inter-city’ buses. This will improve ridership, lessen the impact of cars on the environment, alleviate congestion and will have a very positive impact on the City.
